Though technically a compilation of previously released singles,
Nothing New sounds more like a cohesive full-length album than an odds 'n' sods collection. While later efforts would incorporate more ambitious instrumentation, "New" is a straight-ahead set of guitar-heavy rockers, drawing equally from mod, punk and pop. Songs like "Waffle House" and "1 in 10" are as polished as they come, but still sound as if they originated straight from the garage. Strong work from a band that rarely faltered. ~ Brian Raftery
