Before hooking up with
Stephen Kilbey and recording the atmospheric Bohemia,
Mae Moore was more interested in producing sophisticated pop music with a folk music influence, à la forerunner
Joni Mitchell or even late-comer
Jann Arden. Although she would later return to this more basic sound on her eponymous fourth album, this one has more meat to it lyrically. A number of Canada's best musicians join
Moore, making this a fairly impressive debut. ~ Sean Carruthers
