The reunited
Dokken recorded the acoustic
One Live Night during their 1995 tour in an attempt to cash in on the "unplugged" fad of the '90s. Unfortunately, most of the group's material isn't well suited to this setting -- after all,
Dokken were heavy metal arena rockers, writing big bombastic choruses with crunching chords. Dedicated fans will find versions of "Tooth and Nail," "Into the Fire," and "Alone Again" intriguing, and the same might be said for the band's covers of
the Beatles' "Nowhere Man" and
Emerson, Lake & Palmer's "From the Beginning" -- but
One Live Night is only a curiosity. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
