Following two solo albums for Nemperor, drummer extraordinaire
Lenny White moved to Elektra. During six years (1977-1983) with that label, he recorded three additional "proper" solo albums, as well as three with his group
Twennynine.
Original Album Series contains all but the last of the six,
Attitude (the one that contains the excellent "Didn't Know About Love [Til I Found You]"). Ranging from virtuosic jazz fusion on
Streamline to sophisticated, occasionally funky R&B on the
Twennynine albums Best of Friends, Twennynine with Lenny White, and Just Like Dreamin', each disc here has at least a couple high-quality cuts. The likes of "Peanut Butter," "Best of Friends," "My Melody," "Movin' On," and "Find a Love" are among the most buoyant cuts of the era. ~ Andy Kellman
