The second part of a collaboration session between James T. Cotton and D'Marc Cantu, 2 AM-FM is an extension of the acid and jack tracks from Chicago in the '80s and early '90s. The opening "Sweat Box" builds up as often as it breaks down with frantic drum workouts and key-sampled vocals repeating the same mantra over and over again in a hypnotic fashion. This formula is the basis for the majority of the EP, but while the formula stays the same, the results from track to track are decidedly different, especially on the epic "Acid Planes," which could be the kindred spirit to Cotton's epic nightmare "Bizzare Carnival."
