Basically, CMX's
Rautakantele is a return to distorted guitars from the poppy
Aura. This might be a good piece of news for older fans of CMX, but somehow this band has lost its touch to distorted guitar music. First tracks "Rautakantele," "Palvonnan Eleitä," and "Kirosäkeet" sound first very nice, but the feeling doesn't last for a very long time, especially when the second half of
Rautakantele slowly returns to pop music, and leaves guitars alone. This isn't a bad thing; however, CMX is not so strong on that area. Of course its personality changes everything into something special, but unfortunately nothing works well on
Rautakantele. Still, for hardcore fans of CMX,
Rautakantele works well as an intermission for its following album. ~ Antti J. Ravelin
