With the exception of the name (which might have come from Daniel or Luke, but probably Acts) and the label, it would be difficult to immediately label
Twothirtyeight as a contemporary Christian act, though this has more to do with the earnestness and yearning of the whole emo genre circa the early 2000s than it does a lack of conviction on behalf of the Floridians. The melancholic and down-tuned "Songs Will Write the Words" with its pretty harmony leads a pack of average molten-core melodies that don't stand out nearly as much. The 2002 reissue on Tooth & Nail features two additional tracks, "The Sticks Are Woven in the Spokes" and "Les Wirth," that were recorded with a different rhythm section than the rest of the disc that was originally issued in 2000. ~ Brian O'Neill
