The debut EP from Ashley Frangipane aka
Halsey, 2014's
Room 93, showcases the New Jersey-born artist's atmospheric electronic pop. Having already drawn well-deserved comparisons to such contemporary artists as
Lana Del Rey and
Lorde, with
Room 93 Halsey reveals the sound that helped land her a record deal with Astralwerks. In fact, the album closer, "Trouble," co-written with
Chris Braide, who previously worked on
Del Rey's Born to Die, is a stripped-down piano-and-vocal showcase for
Halsey that displays all of her yearning, sultry talents. Also included on
Room 93 are the singles "Ghost" and "Hurricane." ~ Matt Collar
