St. Valentine's Garage is the first full-length release from Lawrence, KS-based power pop veterans
Kill Creek. The band's music has grown quieter and more concise since this record came out in 1994, but in the process it has lost some of the grit that makes
St. Valentine's Garage so much fun to listen to. Songs like "Busted" and "Killing" rocket forward with abandon, propelled by Charles Sharpe's arena rock-style drumming, Scott Born's strained, little-boy-sounding vocals, and heaps of dissonant guitars. Others, like "Stretch" and "Die Young," ache with regret but are buoyed by fresh guitar and vocal hooks.
St. Valentine's Garage is brawny, catchy, and desperate -- all that a great power pop record should be. ~ Hank Shteamer
