Drazy Hoops' laid-back growl of a voice will probably be hit-or-miss for many listeners. But it is perfectly set in these richly textured songs, often accompanied by simple strings and fine backup by such indie luminaries as Sean Eden (from
Luna) and
Kramer (who also produces). The opening track, "Far from the Sun," is a haunting little gem that made it into the
Hal Hartley film The Book of Life. This is a very groovy record. ~ Tim Sheridan
