Perhaps a protest against the tendency of some ambient music to sound like sonic wallpaper, or possibly an experiment in genuinely random transient noise bursts, Excepter's SUNBOMBER, a chaotic mix of freeform electronica, arbitrary percussion, and monotone, garbled vocals, is not for the fainthearted. There are occasional tuneful interludes, either by accident or by design, and though it's split up into conventional tracks, the album can be listened to as a continuous work. The synthesizers' squeaks, bleeps, and croaks, and the disjointed, unstructured drumming lend the enterprise a pissed-off, punk feel, and the end result makes for disquieting listening.
