"Fuck You", de vrolijk wraakzuchtige zomerhit van 2010, zorgt voor hoogespannen verwachtingen ten aanzien van het derde soloalbum van Cee Lo Green. De topper van een single is een nieuw soort hit voor de zang: op het oppervlak supergrappig, maar met een duurzamere ondertoon, die klinkt als een combinatie van Millie Jacksons tekstuele oprechtheid en een schitterend oud soul-geluid. Maar ook zonder "Fuck You" zou The Lady Killer een door en door interessant album zijn. Het album wordt geopend en afgesloten met een spionagefilm-thema met daartussenin een stevige mix van Greens bijzondere stemgeluid – oftewel zijn gracieuze gebulder en zijn excentrieke persoonlijkheid – en slimme, zware soularrangementen met de energie van hiphop.
