Kool Keith releases a lot of music, and doesn't often exhibit signs of quality control, so the prospect of a "lost tapes" collection won't excite rap fans who've gotten out of the habit of buying his records (much less the ones who haven't).
The Lost Masters is in similary company to the string of
Ultramagnetic MC's B-sides-and-beyond releases (perhaps also sparked by
Keith), most of them including bizarre studio experiments and warm-up tracks that should never have seen the light of day. The lyrics are, as always, charmingly obtuse, even when
Kool Keith's rapping style sounds closer to Saturday Night Live's Tracy Morgan than
