Static 84 are a rather average punk band out of Europe, and their album The Servants Are Rising is a mildly entertaining punk album that regrettably outgrows its welcome shortly after it's placed in the stereo. It's not that Static 84 can't make solid punk songs, they just suffer from the all-too-common burden of sounding the same. Honestly, it is quite hard to tell one song apart from another unless you are solely paying attention to when the track ends, and this winds up making The Servants Are Rising sound like one 30-minute punk anthem, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but isn't anything to get excited about either. Vocally, Static 84 do avoid the annoying nasal whine that accompanies loads of punk bands, yet they don't have much to say lyrically. When the only really memorable song on this album is a track titled "Sorry," no more explanation needs to be given. Unless you are an avid punk fan, avoid Static 84, there is very little on The Servants Are Rising to enjoy.
