Barney Kessell and Jack "Bongo" Burger (The End on Bongos) is notable.
Rogers' arrangements are interesting, but as in so many of these records, there is confusion between mallets and mood. But despite the percussive perkiness, the use of such exotic instruments as temple bells, boo-bams, chimes, and small koto harp does help establish the intensity of mood required by "Baia," "Pagan Love Song," and "Summertime." Other notable selections receiving fresh treatments here are "On a Slow Boat to China," "Perdido," and "Chinatown My Chinatown."
