Brian Hyland had more hits than you might think -- it wasn't just 1960's "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini," 1962's "Sealed With a Kiss," and 1970s "Gypsy Woman." He hit the charts 19 other times between 1960 and 1971. Of course, only a handful of those other singles hit the Top 40, but that's still a very impressive run to keep hitting the lower reaches of the charts, and some of the singles that didn't make it that far deserved to -- including the terrific "Warmed Over Kisses (Left Over Love)," "The Joker Went Wild," "Ginny Come Lately," and "I'll Never Stop Wanting You." All those are present on Music Club's The Very Best of Brian Hyland, which contains 18 tracks, all of pretty consistent quality, from throughout the '60s. At 18 tracks, it might seem like it's a little long, but it's still missing a couple of moderate hits (such as "Run, Run Look and See") which could have been included. Nevertheless, what's here is pleasing, if a little dated, '60s pop that is a fine, representative overview of his career. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
