Beginning as
the Ghouls, Europe's best-known
Misfits cover band, the Rod Usher-fronted troupe
the Other somehow managed to pick up the baton from its main inspiration and turn out one hell of a dark, forceful horror-punk set with
They're Alive! It comes as little surprise that the rapid power of "Dead Boys" and "Tarantula" sound like vintage
Misfits, while the stark, lumbering "Wolf" barks like late model
Danzig. Still, it's all credible because Usher and his gang are far too devout to be mistaken as rip-off artists. Long on gore and admittedly absent of any real originality -- just check the "Whoa -- whoa" choruses and shouts of "Go!" -- The Other may be more of the same but its doubtful that fans of
Glenn Danzig's back catalog will have much to complain about. ~ John D. Luerssen
