Capitol Records had scored a Top Ten hit with its 1956 compilation
This Is Sinatra!, and when
Dean Martin suddenly enjoyed a commercial resurgence as a recording artist in 1958 with the successive hit singles "Return to Me," "Angel Baby," and "Volare," the label adopted a similar title for this compilation, which featured the three hits along with nine tracks dating back to 1952 that had been released previously as singles but were seeing their first LP issue here. They mostly constituted filler, though tracks like "Promise Her Anything (But Give Her Love)" and "Write to Me from Naples" were pleasant enough tunes given
Martin's typically suave treatment.
