Sensurreal's
Gert-Jan Bijl picked the formula for his latest round of
Gerd work with his earlier Universal Language singles and here doesn't alter it an iota, with
Touch an amazingly lush and atmospheric, ultimately quite harmless collection of coffee-table techno. Mostly breakbeat and with a high index of jazz and funk chops circulating in the mix (rubbery basslines, minor-key synth glissandos, etc.), the album is extremely well done (if a little boring). Appropriately released on
Reload/
Global Communications' Universal Language imprint, the album sounds much like the tracks appearing under those names a few years prior, underscoring as well how little new ground is being covered here.
