On their first two releases
Soundscape UK combined elements of acid in with a radio-ready sound but with
Uptown Groove their music is aimed strictly at the smooth jazz marketplace. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the duo is good at creating club etched background music but the result is more polished and professional then memorable. The instrumental tracks are respectable but have little individual personality but about a third of the album is reserved for upscale retro soul and these tracks work best, thanks in part to the vocalist Opal. ~ Nick Dedina
