Here's what the press material says about this album: "From the opening "'Pentagramme Lollipoppe'" to the closing "'Red Light'," they fly through the Great Smoky Mountains on wings of arty guitars and classical pianos, guided by throaty vocals and powered by thunderous drums." What the press materials don't tell you is that the classical pianos are playing generic pseudo-Beethoven sonata licks, or that the guitars are more generic than arty, or that the central chord progression to "I Cut Myself" was stolen from "Stray Cat Strut." Sloppiness is forgivable, but thoughtlessness isn't, and this music feels like it was thrown together by a bunch of people who like the idea of being in a band but can't be bothered to come up with original musical ideas or, lacking those, even to forge a reasonably compelling imitation of someone else's.
