Hailing from the hills of east Tennessee, the three members of
Alathea released their first project on Rocketown Records in March 2003. The album,
What Light Is All About, features a style that members Carrie Theobald, Mandee Radford, and
Cristi Johnson call "Popalachian." Combining folk, pop, and bluegrass, the project musically reflects the women's Appalachian heritage, pairing this with the lyrical richness of storytelling. Songs include "Indian Creek," "Oh Love...," and "My Family."
