When the East Bay band
Dead & Gone broke up in 1997, the guitarist, bassist, and drummer got together with a new singer, Matt Decker, and formed
Creeps on Candy. This band didn't last long, as
Dead & Gone re-formed again in 2000 with their original singer.
Creeps on Candy's only release is an uninspired effort -- loud, heavy, and noisy tunes that mostly sound the same. There are some pounding, tribal-like drums from Joey Perales and some yelpy, harsh, irritated vocals from Decker. But as far as songwriting or ideas,
Wonders of Giardia is lacking. "Gravity's Angel" is one of the few tunes with a discernible melody that stands out from the rest. These guys are comparable to
the Jesus Lizard or the Cows, but don't rock nearly as hard. ~ Adam Bregman
