Waajeed -- without mimicking them. She sings about things like mortality, self-improvement, and the simple bliss of a kiss on a cold day. The dreamy manner in which her often multi-tracked voice floats and flutters without being ostentatious is alluring enough to outweigh whatever aversions you might have to lyrics that sometimes lean toward the abstract and otherworldly. Muldrow should be worth watching for a long time. She takes cues from the past and present but is smart enough to mutate them, and she seems destined to become progressively unique with time. Her appearances on a pair of 2005 albums --
