Rather than putting the two British EPs and the subsequent single together as a pseudo-album, Sire have chosen to compile this release from the single, both EPs and their first album, so that the only really complete thing about it is the single. The result is a short non-album, non-EP release that doesn't really gel -- there are no quieter moments to be had here, leaving the album without a real flow. In terms of music and sound, the insistent retro-sixties acid stomp sounds much like a subdued edition of
Thee Hypnotics. That's fine in itself, but these guys seem as though they're still a bit more structured than they should be -- when they start laying out in 30-minute space jams, they'll be getting the point. ~ Steven McDonald
