Ajimal Fran O'Hanlon

Fran O'Hanlon acquired the name AJIMAL as the result of an encounter with a formerly infamous voodoo priest, in the aftermath of being caught up in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. Hailing from Newcastle, O’Hanlon qualified as a doctor whilst recording his first album, ‘Childhood’. Working alongside Guy Massey (The Beatles, Spiritualised, Bill Fay, The Divine Comedy), AJIMAL's second album, As It Grows Dark / Light, is due in early 2020. Although a classically trained pianist, O’Hanlon feels much more comfortable writing and exploring music by ear, rather than through the more rigid classical syllabus he grew up with, a discovery that has enabled him to combine a career in medicine with music. AJIMAL's live shows encompass elements of both soaring grandeur and pin drop intimacy. “Setting a new benchmark for sensitive pop.” The Line of Best Fit “Idiosyncratic, heart-wrenching songs.” NME “AJIMAL’s gorgeous lilt seduces with a soothing concoction of pianos, harps and ethereal delivery.” Clash @ajimalmusic http://www.ajimal.co.uk
