Born and raised in St Louis, MO, the Midwest rapper Alcam doesn't just create music with a purpose. It's who he is. The word Alcam means 'music with a purpose.' In this instance, the man Alcam is living up to the name through his artistry. Growing up in a musical house, Alcam's father, a saxophonist - gave him motivation and inspiration. Intending to become a part of the music industry, Alcam is the breath of fresh air the industry needs. Alcam is an artist set to stay outside the box, break out of the restraints put forth by society and turn the page by taking the next steps in hip hop's history. "I just want to encourage and inspire people with my words," Alcam said. Having grown up in a heavily gang affiliated and drug-infested neighborhood on the west side of St Louis. Alcam has already achieved his goals and success. Alcam remains close to his roots by residing in St Louis, blocks away from his childhood's now gentrified neighborhood. Alcam signed a record deal at the age of 27 but was quickly discouraged due to the bureaucratic red tape and cookie-cutter methods most majors utilize. Still inspired, he continued to record that, although parting ways with the label, he continued making dope music as the genre morphed from hip hop to gangsta rap to trap music and beyond. What was solely a hobby and enjoyment for Alcam would quickly gain value as an MMA video featuring one of his tracks went viral on YouTube. This video introduced over 2 million viewers to Alcam's "pro hobby" in a little over a month. This exposure and justification were what Alcam needed to renew inspiration to pursue music professionally. Alcam has chosen to focus on his 'rebirth' in the industry and released his first single, 'Tina Turner', in the fourth quarter of 2019. Since then, he's dropped two more singles. Despite covid-19, Alcam's getting paid bookings. He's also releasing visuals and even had the privilege of being interviewed on the nationally syndicated radio show "Sway in the Morning." Not much of a hobby anymore, right? Alcam founded Game Changers Ent in 2020 and is looking to solidify himself as an artist further and eventually add other artists to the roster.
