Vancouver-born pianist
Andrew Czink is one of Canada's most imaginative musicians. In addition to performing as a soloist and a member (along with guitarist
John Oliver) of avant-garde ensemble Structural Damage,
Czink has hosted a radio program, Musica Nova, for Vancouver co-op radio station CFRO; taught synthesizer, MIDI, and digital studio operations at the Centre for Digital Imaging and Sound in Vancouver; and served as co-director of Earsay Productions. Classically trained,
Czink was deeply inspired by the "contemporary avant-garde" approach to composition. Although his debut album,
Escape Velocity, released in 1998, showcased his solo piano playing, his subsequent efforts have been full band outings. ~ Craig Harris
