Another Sky are a London-based indie band whose cinematic mix of post-rock and spectral pop is anchored by the strange, ethereal vocals of singer
Catrin Vincent. That they are named after a poem by
Emily Dickinson seems appropriate given their haunted and dramatic sound. After introducing themselves with a 2018 EP, they made their full-length debut with 2020's I Slept on the Floor.
Vincent, guitarist Jack Gilbert, bassist
Naomi le Dune, and drummer
Max Doohan all met while attending Goldsmiths University and bonded over a mutual interest in
Talk Talk's
Laughing Stock album. Although each musician brought a host of disparate influences to the table, the democratic approach of their jam sessions yielded a cache of interesting material that made use of each other's strengths. Spearheaded by
Vincent's unusual, almost androgynous voice, the group's detailed, post-rock-inspired pop helped them notch a deal with Universal's Fiction Records imprint. The buzz generated from
Another Sky's 2018 EP Forget Yourself helped build anticipation for their debut album, I Slept on the Floor, which appeared two years later. ~ Timothy Monger
