Arthur Sullivan

Arthur Sullivan

composer

Though Arthur Sullivan put his hand to sacred works, chamber music and choral pieces, he is primarily remembered for his work with librettist W.S. Gilbert. Gilbert and Sullivan wrote 14 comedic lite operas between 1871 and 1896, which have become the bread and butter of community theater. The most popular of these include The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and The Gondoliers.
