AUN are a noisy drone duo from Montreal, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Martin Dumais and
Julie Leblanc. Their dark, engrossing music blends elements of shoegaze, industrial, doom metal, and dark ambient, resulting in hypnotic, otherworldly soundscapes that frighten as well as enthrall.
AUN began in 2007, releasing several albums on the Montreal-based Oral label that were primarily recorded by Dumais solo. In 2008, Crucial Bliss released
AUN's pummeling Multigone CD-R, which received critical acclaim. During the same year,
AUN released several split or collaborative releases, including Irrlicht recorded with
Allseits.
AUN's 2009 album Motorsleep was released by Montreal's Alien8 Recordings.
AUN released two well-received albums in 2010: the doom metal-leaning VII on Important Records and the more dark ambient
Black Pyramid released by Cyclic Law. A limited split LP with doom metal group Habsyll was also released on Public Guilt/Conspiracy Records that year. The duo signed to German label Denovali Records in 2011, who re-released
Black Pyramid and VII in addition to releasing a new
AUN album titled Phantom Ghost, which was a bit lighter and more rhythmic than some of their previous releases. The duo followed the album with 2012's synthesizer-heavy EP Full Circle, followed by the ethereal Alpha Heaven album in 2013.
AUN returned to Cyclic Law in 2015 with the release of
