BETWEEN FRIENDS is a new project that’s been years in the making. Siblings Savannah and Brandon Hudson have been “Making music and creating together for as long as we can remember,” they share. “We began writing when we were kids and over time that evolved into producing and creating the sound and look of BETWEEN FRIENDS.”

Living in Los Angeles, Savannah and Brandon have been steeped in the city’s creative community from a young age, and their kinetic relationship with one another helps drive each towards their best output. “Because we are also such close friends, we have no filter with each other, which allows everything to be said,” they share. “We’ve had the same vision since we started, our goal has been to fill this empty, metaphorical room with as much substance as possible.”

“Being that we create everything on our own, we want to avoid being boxed into any sort of label,” they share. “We freeform and create based on whatever we are interested in at the moment, whatever provokes our emotions or grabs our attention.”

Having full creative control of what they make, Savannah and Brandon have been crafting music at a frenetic pace, with more than 4 projects worth of material completed. Their release approach, like their creative process, is unconfined by norms. The group's upcoming “mixtape,” to be released as three separate packs, is a testament to their ingenuity, as well as the boundlessness of their work.

On the first tape, titled “tape 001,” Savannah and Brandon introduce the next iteration of BETWEEN FRIENDS. What started in 2018 has quickly evolved into a cogent mix of tremendous hooks, crystalline vocals, rich sound canvases and sonic easter eggs.

On tracks like “ shiny,” Sav’s bold yet sultry vocals effortlessly glide with Brandon's left-twist on pop production. Together musically they incite great dimension and depth. Their songwriting triggers intense vulnerability that’s bound to their dense but roomy sonic cadence. Brandon shines on “i like you”, with his honeyed falsetto and the vocal interplay between him and Sav. It’s safe to say BETWEEN FRIENDS isn’t afraid to try it all, which is clearly exhibited in their music videos. Sav shows off her deft dance moves in front of a minimal blue light background while Brandon plays a drum kit in a nonchalant, unruffled manner in their “tired of your love" music video paying homage to iPod commercials from the early 2000’s.

In the making of their tapes, BETWEEN FRIENDS has found greater clarity about their purpose as a project —a self-understanding they hope might ultimately imprint upon their listeners. “We want you to feel like you are within our little studio with us the whole time you are listening,” they share. “Even in its biggest dreamiest moments there are always sounds and noises that attempt to pull you back down to earth.”
