Big Ice

Perhaps the only rap producer to emerge from Scandinavia is a chap who goes by the alias of Big Ice. Originally from West Oslo, Norway, Big Ice got into the business by writing for two of the Bay Area's best known rap publications, '4080' and 'Illtip,' during 1995. Just prior to the dawn of the 21st century, Big Ice began appearing on local rap artists' recordings, and in 2000, founded his own Norwegian/West Coast label, Da Playboy Foundation (along with two other gangster rappers/producers from Norway, Mr. Pimp-Lotion and Oral Bee). 2002 saw the label issue the very first Norwegian gangster rap album ever, Oral Bee's Sånn Vi Putter Det Ned. In addition, Big Ice has served as producer for such albums as Assassin's Revelation 2000 and Out of Custody 2002, Baby Beesh's On tha Cool, Carlito's Way's Desperate Measures, Jay Tee & Baby Beesh's Velvetism, Mr. Sosa's Uncaged, plus Young Life's Thugg Muzikk, in addition to several compilations. ~ Greg Prato
