When he's not making records with
Ivy,
Andy Chase shapes a quirky kind of sound under the
Brookville moniker.
Chase started
Brookville in the late '90s as an outlet for his experimental, Euro-romantic musical textures. With the encouragement of singer/songwriter
Eric Matthews,
Brookville mastered a few songs before the decade's end. In 2003,
Chase launched his own label, Unfiltered, and released
Brookville's debut,
Wonderfully Nothing. The album, which is a solo album of sorts, featured collaborative efforts from
Matthews,
James Iha, Jean-Pierre Ensuque of
Autour de Lucie,
Gigolo Aunts' Jon Skibic, and
They Might Be Giants bass player
Danny Weinkauf. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
