Specializing in a heady and evocative blend of inventive indie pop and brooding alternative rock, Louisville, Kentucky’s
CABIN invokes names like
Sufjan Stevens,
Radiohead,
the Flaming Lips, and
Coldplay. Formed in the early 2000s by visual artist and songwriter
Noah Hewett-Ball, the band released their debut album, Govern the Good Life, in 2005. The next three years saw the group expanding into a larger and more cohesive unit, fueled in part by the addition of experimental violinist and pianist Sarah Beth Welder, who helped make 2010’s Among the Rectangles and Changeable Parts the band’s most successful outing to date. ~ James Christopher Monger
