Angular punk trio
Chandos were formed in late 2010 by three roommates, drummer Julian Moore, singer/guitarist Dan Coulson, and bassist Sean Tracy. The bandmembers all grew up playing music in the D.I.Y. scenes of Boston and New Hampshire, and quickly developed a sound that took cues from the energy of local punk and some of the tense, shambling approach of ragged '90s indie rock heroes like
Polvo,
Sebadoh, and
Dinosaur Jr. The trio went through a series of name changes for the first several years, playing out and self-releasing a few EPs under various monikers such as Big Shot Weekend, Monday and Chandeliers. In 2014 they settled on
Chandos as a permanent name and released their debut full-length,
Rats in Your Bed, in early 2015. ~ Fred Thomas
