The trio CPR includes legendary rock figure
David Crosby, his touring guitarist
Jeff Pevar, and his natural son,
James Raymond on keyboards.
Raymond, who grew up with adoptive parents and never knew the name of his real father until 1992, nevertheless studied music at California State University, San Bernardino and pursued a career in music. In 1994,
Raymond finally arranged a meeting with
Crosby; when the two gelled after talking for just a few minutes, they began writing music together as well.
Crosby decided to hire his son as a keyboard player for a 1996 tour, playing
Byrds favorites like "Eight Miles High" along with a new
Crosby-
Raymond composition, "Morrison."
Crosby, Pevar and
Raymond recorded
CPR for a 1998 release on Samson Records; Live at Wiltern followed a year later;
Just Like Gravity appeared in June 2001. ~ John Bush
