Born in the Virgin Islands but raised in New Orleans, rapper
Crix Green came up in 2013 with a style that was neither emo nor gangsta, but straight up the middle in a way that was almost a throwback to the golden age of
Ludacris and
50 Cent. Growing up a
2Pac fan, he admired how his idol could tell true tales of the streets and still become a superstar, selling millions of albums without selling out.
Crix used this as a blueprint when he launched his career in 2013 with the mixtape Keepin' It Franklin, hosted by
DJ Scream. Later that year he dropped the "Feel Good" single featuring
Juvenile, while 2014 saw the release of his EP So Cool. ~ David Jeffries
