Dame Fate

Dame Fate

The moody, indie rock troupe Dame Fate came together in 1999. Yalan Papillion (vocals/bass) had left her Ohio-based bands -- Shanghai Lily, Avec des Papillions, Miss May 66 -- behind for the city of Washington D.C. She met up with ex-Tuscadero guitarist Melissa Farris and a friendship was born. Together they formed the psychedelic trip-hop sounds of Dame Fate. Drummer Speck was a part of the musical fray by the end of that year; shared dates with the likes of Lungfish, Tristeza, the Lilys, Songs: Ohia, and His Name Is Alive soon followed. Dame Fate's debut album, Time and Tide Wait for No Man, was released on Lovitt in spring 2002. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
