Formed in the late '90s by school friends
Reinhard Vanbergen,
Niek Meul, Lieven Moors, and Bert Van Looy, Belgian indie pop outfit
Das Pop (previously known as
Things to Come) capitalized on their victory at the influential Humo's Rock Rally contest with their 2001 debut album,
I Love, and its follow-up, The Human Thing, two years later. But they only began to achieve recognition outside their homeland after
Justice remixed their single "Underground," and following support slots with
Soulwax,
Gossip, and
the Kills, and appearances at the V, Rockness, and Glastonbury festivals, they released their self-titled third album in 2009 and The Game in 2011. ~ Jon O'Brien
