Born in Douala, Cameroon I was raised in a Christian home so music was always bound to find a place in my heart. At a tender age, I became a great fan of the late Micheal Jackson and will spend hours trying to mimic the moves Micheal did (though I must admit I was not quite successful). At this stage, music really did not mean much to me. Attending secondary education at a boarding institution made me develop love for gospel accapella singing which was the norm in boarding schools then. I also got interested in other genres such as Soul, Slow jam and R&B and enjoyed listening to artists such as Boyz 2 Men, All 4 One, Azyet, Babyface, Keith Sweat and the list goes on. My love for other genres such as Pop, Hip Hop, and Ragga also grew stronger. After my A-levels Certificate (equivalent to Matric Certificate), friends and I started the group XLM SQUAD. We had a pretty rough journey to the top with having to perform at rap competitions usually taking place at high schools because singing in English was just not appropriate as the masses were dominantly French speaking. Shortly after, XLM SQUAD then became XLM 4 REAL. In January 2005, we were awarded a Canal 2 award for best Hip hop/RnB music video for the title track “MAGIC”.
