Desire, an electronic pop music trio formed in Montreal in 2009, is part of the influential record label Italians Do It Better. The band consists of singer Megan Louise and multi-instrumentalists Johnny Jewel and Nat Walker, both of whom are also members of fellow Italians Do It Better groups such as Chromatics, Symmetry, and Glass Candy. Desire gained worldwide exposure with their hit song “Under Your Spell,” which was featured prominently in Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 film, Drive.
The trio released their debut album II in June 2009, featuring organic-analogue- blended synthpop and disco cuts sung in both French and English. IImade many critics' "Best of 2009" lists, including FACT magazine’s Top 20 albums of the year.
“Under Your Spell” has been featured in many fashion shows and events, including Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2012. The song was also featured in the 2011 European film Oslo, August 31. In 2012, Kid Cudi sampled “Under Your Spell” for his song “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie," the lead single from his WZRD album.
In 2013, Desire’s “Tears from Heaven” was featured on the popular Italians Do It Better compilation After Dark 2. In 2015, Desire appeared alongside other Italians Do It Better acts and Jewel’s own score work on the soundtrack to Ryan Gosling’s film Lost River.
Most recently, Desire's song “Saturday” was featured on Johnny Jewel’s album Windswept, with Chromatics performing an instrumental cover of the song on Episode 12 of Twin Peaks: The Return.
The trio is currently working on a followup to II.
