London's
Dinosaur is an eclectic, boundary-pushing jazz ensemble led by trumpeter, keyboardist Laura Jurd. Featured in
Dinosaur are several of Jurd's longtime associates, including keyboardist
Elliot Galvin, bassist Conor Chaplin, and drummer Corrie Dick. Together, they play an inventive brand of jazz that touches upon '70s style fusion, indie-folk, and expansive, modern creative improvisation. A graduate of London's Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Jurd is an award-winning performer, having received the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Instrumentalist of the Year in 2015. She has composed for such esteemed organizations as the Ligeti Quartet, the
BBC Orchestra, and the
Northern Sinfonia. Prior to forming
Dinosaur, she released two highly regarded solo albums; which featured several of her
Dinosaur bandmates. In 2016, the group debuted with
Together, As One, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination. ~ Matt Collar
