DJ Mayson

A drummer at heart, Mikael Mattison is a musician who produces under the name of DJ Mayson. As part of a musical family of seven, Mikael grew up in the small town of Boden, in northern Sweden. Under the tutelage of his father, he began learning the drums at the age of seven, quickly developing an aptitude for the instrument that would thrive throughout his teenage years. After studying at several specialist music schools, Mikael spent three years touring with bands, experimenting with different instruments and diversifying his understanding of music as a whole. Mikael has cited the hustle of Sweden’s capital as a particular influence on his music, claiming that ‘being part of the movement’ and ‘seeing people interact’ fills him with a unique feeling of inspiration. The focus on movement and melody is clear throughout Mikael’s work.
