Bristol, England's
Dreamscape crafted dream pop along the lines of
Lush and
the Cocteau Twins in the early '90s. The band featured Scott Purnell and Jamie Gingell, who were also members of the Sarah Records band
Secret Shine, and vocalist Rebecca Rawlings. The trio issued its first single, Blackflower/Evergreen, in 1990, and then signed to La-Di-Da Records, which released the Cradle EP two years later. In 1993,
Dreamscape recorded another EP, which was to be called Greater Than God (a title
Secret Shine used for a later EP) but never saw release. This EP, along with Cradle and some demos the band recorded shortly before breaking up, were compiled as
The La-Di-Da Recordings in 2012 by Kranky Records. ~ Heather Phares
