Dri is a moniker of Adrianne Verhoeven, a solo artist from Lawrence, KS, whose style of music draws from indie rock as well as indie electronic. Skilled as both a musician and vocalist, Verhoevan participated in the Midwestern bands
the Anniversary,
Art in Manila, and
Fourth of July before making her full-length solo album debut with Smoke Rings (2007). Released by the independent label Range Life Records, Smoke Rings features collaborations with producers Steve Swyers (aka Say My Name), Josh Powers (aka Scenebooster), and Jeremy Nesbitt (aka Nezbeat). Well received in the music blogosphere, Verhoevan expanded her audience on tour, opening for well-known indie rock acts such as
Rilo Kiley and
Conor Oberst. In 2008 she performed at The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival in New York City. ~ Jason Birchmeier
