A side project put together by members of Philadelphia underground favorites Balboa and
the Towers, the
Elder trio consisted of bassist/vocalist Armando Morales, guitarist/vocalist Craig Woods, and drummer Drew Juergens. Finding inspiration in the hardcore sounds of the classic Dischord label roster, as well as the pre-emo shoegazing set,
Elder brought their jarring fusion of hard/soft dynamics to bear on their eponymous EP, which was released in 2008 by Forge Again Records. Forge Again also issued their follow-up EP, Reflect, in late 2009. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
