A successful Disney Channel Latin America telenovela, Soy Luna follows the life of adopted teen Luna Valente, a student, singer, and competitive roller skater who was uprooted from her life in Mexico to move to Argentina for her parents' work. Luna is played by Karol Sevilla, born Karol Itzitery Piña Cisneros, a child actress from Mexico City with a background in TV and musical theater. Other cast members include Ruggero Pasquerelli, Michael Ronda, and Valentina Zenere. The first episode aired in March 2016, though a soundtrack (Soy Luna) was released in February in anticipation of the series. It would go on to hit the album charts in a handful of European countries, reaching number one in Spain. It also topped the chart in the show's broadcast home of Argentina. ~ Marcy Donelson
