Viennese rock band
Excuse Me Moses were first founded under the name
Funkalicious in summer 2000 by singer Michael "Paukee" Paukner, guitarist Dietmar "Diz" Schrödl, bassist Gerald Weichselbaum, and drummer Gerhard Bergauer. They released an EP called Deduction in 2002, followed by their debut album, Perfekta, in 2004, but Bergauer left the group a year later. He was replaced by drummer
Martin Scheer, and the group changed its style from funk-rock to rock and renamed itself
Excuse Me Moses. After the release of two singles ("Summer Sun," produced by
Alexander Kahr, and "Not in Love Anymore"), the group released its first album,
1st Last Will, in summer 2007. The album reached number 13 and stayed in the charts for ten weeks. A new non-album single, "Godzilla Killa (Superhero)," followed in January 2008 (an early version of the song had already been released on the Deduction EP). The group also appeared in the
