Hong Kong singer-songwriter

Gloria Tang Sze-wing, who goes by the name G.E.M., is a Chinese pop singer-songwriter who gained fame in Hong Kong when she released an eponymous EP in 2008 and went on to achieve international success. Born in Shanghai to a musical family, she grew up in Hong Kong and studied piano as a child. She won a local talent competition and began performing professionally in 2006. Her debut album, '18', which was recorded in Los Angeles, came out in 2009 followed by 'My Secret' in 2010. She toured internationally in 2013 with her third release, 'Xposed', and in 2014 appeared on the Chinese television talent show 'I Am a Singer'. 'The Best of 2008-2013' came out in 2013 followed by 'Heartbeat' (2015) and in 2018 she released three EPs: 'My Fairytale', 'Fearless' and 'Queen G'. Hit singles include 'Where Did You Go?', 'All About U', 'Game Over', 'A.I.N.Y.', 'Collaboration Song', 'Someday I'll Fly' and 'What Have You Done?' Acclaimed as one of the most successful Chinese performers, she has appeared around the world and in 2016 won an MTV Europe Music Award as Best Mainland China and Hong Kong Act. She released a concert DVD, 'G-force' in 2017 and has published a photo book titled '25 Looks'. The album 'Happily Ever After' came out in 2019 and her 2019 track 'Walk On Water' was the theme for the Chinese release of Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie 'Terminator: Dark Fate'. © ©Copyright Music Story 2020
